ADAF 2008-2009 Minority Dental Student, Dental Student and Dental Hygiene Scholarship Recipients

The ADAF is pleased to announce its 2008-2009 scholarship recipients. Heartfelt thanks to our generous Minority Dental Student Scholarship Program supporters: Harry J. Bosworth, Procter and Gamble Professional Oral Health, Colgate-Palmolive Company and Sunstar. The ADAF is also grateful to the donors who contributed to the new Dr. Robert B. Dewhirst Scholarship fund that was initiated this year.

Application information for the 2008-2009 Dental Assisting and Dental Laboratory Technology Scholarship Program will be sent to program directors after August 4, 2008.

Harris Fund for Children's Dental Health

The Samuel D. Harris Fund for Children’s Dental Health grants program received approximately 260 applications by the July 17 deadline. Applicants will be notified after November 26, 2008 of the Foundation’s action regarding the request. Grant recipients will be sent a check in the amount of their award by December 31, 2008. This year the Foundation has approximately $325,000 to distribute to grantees.

Last year 66 projects were selected for Harris Fund grants out of 258 applications. A total of $300,000 was awarded by the ADA Foundation.

In it’s ninth year, the Harris Fund provides grants up to $5,000 to organizations that serve children through primary preventive oral health education and treatment. Grants may be used for supplies and materials, and the program is offered annually.
